CRITICAL TIMELINE:
1970: Napier Community Trust Hospital formed
1971: Princess Alexandra visits, hospital named after her
1980s: $2.2M funding crisis
1988: Hospital sold to Southern Cross
1996: Buckingham Palace approves new trust name
1998: Princess Alexandra Medical Trust formed
QUESTIONS FOR INVESTIGATION:
- Who were the original trustees in 1970?
- Who managed the hospital during the 1980s crisis?
- Where did the sale proceeds go?
- Who controlled the trust funds between 1988-1998?
- What was Evelyn Evans' role at the hospital?
- Were there any "emergency medical payments" during this period?
- How does this connect to the broader Hawke's Bay network?
NOTE: The trust now provides grants for medical procedures not publicly funded.
This is a significant change from running a hospital to distributing funds.
